 Statement of Protection and Status for Harvest Christian University Public Charity Trust
Official Declaration of Nonprofit Status and Protections
Harvest  Christian University Public Charity Trust (HCU), a faith-based  educational institution dedicated to Christian higher learning and  charitable outreach, is duly organized and operated exclusively for  religious, charitable, and educational purposes as defined under Section  501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. HCU holds  federal tax-exempt status under this provision, thereby shielding it  from federal income taxation on mission-related activities.  Furthermore, HCU is classified as a public charity under Section  509(a)(1) and Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code,  ensuring broad public support and eligibility for enhanced tax benefits.  

Harvest Christian University Foundation

Key Protections and Benefits:
•  Tax Exemption: HCU is exempt  from federal income taxes, allowing full dedication of resources to its  educational and charitable mission without the burden of unrelated  business income tax on core activities.
•  Donor Incentives: Gifts,  grants, bequests, and contributions to HCU are deductible as charitable  contributions on donors’ federal income tax returns to the maximum  extent permitted by law, fostering generous support for scholarships,  programs, and community initiatives.


•  Limited Liability: As a  nonprofit corporation, HCU provides safeguards for its trustees,  officers, and volunteers, protecting them from personal liability for  organizational actions when acting in good faith.
•  State and Local  Alignment: HCU complies with applicable state nonprofit laws, securing  parallel exemptions from state and local taxes where qualified, and  operates under Section 508(c)(1)(A) for streamlined recognition as a  church-related entity.​

As a public charity trust, the Board exercises  fiduciary oversight, ensuring financial integrity, compliance with legal  and ethical standards, and prudent stewardship of resources. The  Trustees work collaboratively to establish policies, oversee academic  and administrative leadership, and promote growth aligned with the  university’s commitment to faith-based, Indigenous-rooted education.

The  Board’s role includes guiding long-term planning, fundraising,  community engagement, and ensuring the university maintains its unique  status as a royal chartered institution with sovereign governance.  Members of the Board bring diverse expertise from academia, business,  law, and ministry, contributing to robust decision-making and support  for Harvest Christian University’s distinct mission.
